MID SEMESTER BREAK HAS STARTED......

AND SO THE MID SEMESTER BREAK BEGINS!!! =) finally, after 8 solid weeks of school, the mid semester break is finally here. The mid semester break that both the bro and i have been pretty much looking forward to. School over the past 8 weeks have been hectic but yet pretty fun as well. After all, school is where you get to see your friends in lectures and tutorials, many of whom are leaving and graduating soon =( But i've pretty much enjoyed the last 8 weeks, if i had to do a recap of the key events it would have to be the skiing trip, my birthday, catching up with friends and mid autumn festival! I've pretty much enjoyed the first 8 weeks of school, as i've made new friends, caught up with some old trinity friends that i havent seen in a long time in lectures and tutorials. But nevertheless, im looking forward to two whole solid weeks of holiday! Its going to be lots of catching up on tv series, formula 1 racing, shopping, yummilicious singapore food and awesome family time! And after that, its another 5 weeks of school before exam!

On a different note, the weather here has been really lovely over the past few days! It has been pretty nice, windy and cold. I love the weather here and that is something i can't deny. I'm seriously not really looking forward to the hot and humid weather in singapore. I still love my winter and im sad its ending!! So its two more days of awesome weather before i return back to SUNNY SUNNY singapore. I think i'll just be hiding in air-conditioned places all day long, i just simply hate hot and humid weather. But other than that, its singapore singapore singapore in two days!!! OH YES, and best of all, i ordered three cds from yesasia.com. So im finally getting my lam fung cd and all in singapore! I CANNOT WAIT!!!! hahaha. see ya all REALLY REALLY SOON!!! =)

the mid semester break is coming!

And so FINALLY, i've finished all my assignments and tests that are due and held before the mid semester break. I'm pretty exhausted from all that, because over the past month or so it has been pretty much non-stop work. But i still have another grp assignment due on the 20th of oct, but thats still a while more. So its six days to singapore!! I'm pretty excited and all, because of formula 1 and of course because i get to see my beloved parents and relatives. I was going to say im not looking forward to the weather back home, but the weather here over the past few days have been pretty warm as well. Temperatures of around 16-20 degrees. But then again, melbourne's weather is unpredictable and it could very well plunge on any day. I'm actually really missing winter now!

Today is also supposedly mid-autumn festival. haha i never thought of it as a big deal last time when i was back in singapore. After all, i dont fancy mooncake, and we've all pretty much gotten past the carrying lantern stage. But to quite alot of chinese people here, its actually a big deal. So tonight i'll be going over to toliver and sean's place for a steamboat since its mid-autumn today. First time i'm actually celebrating this festival! I guess thats the plus point of studying overseas and mixing with people from different countries. On friday night i had dinner with my korean friend, Harry. It was a good dinner, except i wore the wrong pair of shoes and now the back of my feet are filled with big big blisters. BOO! i'm never going to wear pretty but uncomfortable shoes if i know im going to walk so much in the future! But other than that, it was really good catching up with him since i havent seen him in a while since he went for attachment in the US last semester. Oh yes, besides this i caught up with waiting for tea after our class on thursday, we just sat for two hours and talked non-stop. I see her like three times a week but we never really got a chance to sit down and really catch up. It was a really awesome tea session that i thoroughly enjoyed =) I'll be seeing her tonight at toli's place. So this week was pretty good since i got to catch up with two really close friends of mine. I'll be so sad when they all graduate at the end of this year. Thankfully, i'm going to hk at the end of this year, so i can still catch up with waiting and all.

At the end of this year, so many of my friends are going to graduate. And from then on, everyone is going to be going in so many different directions. SOme will head home, some will try and find a job here. Actually, i've been really lucky in terms of doing group work in commerce. I've met really nice people and become pretty good friends with them. Like we can all get along really well, and doing group work with a group like this makes it alot easier. In fact, they are all non-singaporeans, but they have all been pretty awesome to work with. Okays, im going to go for lunch with korkor soon!!!

the hectic period is here...

And so i just handed up my law take home exam this morning. It was due at 10am, so i had to drag myself out of bed early, and set two alarm clocks fearing that i wouldnt be able to wake up. But anyways, its all over now. I did my best and whatever the result i just leave it in God's hands. It goes without saying, that everytime i hand in a law assignment, im always wondering 'did i forget an issue? did i will cover all that needed to be covered?'. Its such an open ended subject that is up to us to argue, yet there are some sort of fixed answers to it. Oh wells, no use fearing for its all over now.

The next three weeks are going to be very very hectic. I've a mid semester test and an assignment due next week, and i've a project meeting this friday which i have to prepare as well. And then the week after i've another mid semester test! The middle of the semester is always the busiest period, and somehow everything seems to be due at the same time, which is seriously annoying. The mid semester test next week, is for one of the hardest commerce subjects, derivative securities, so i seriously have to study very hard for that.

Oh yes, on another note, the olympics are finally over =( Thats pretty fast, 16 days of good entertainment for me. Now, Australian Tv is back to its boring mode again, but oh wells just in time for such a busy period for me. Okays, i got to go to school already! I'll update when i next have time! =)

my 200th post!

I was just looking at the number of posts i've done since this blog was set up and i realise this is my 200th post! haha, so thats an average of 60 plus entries a year. Wow! That's quite alot. Anyway, week 4 is finally over, which means a third of the semester has past! Time passes pretty fast, and that also means that over the next few weeks, the work load is going to get seriously alot heavier, with assignments due and mid semesters all coming up within the next three weeks. I pray the Lord will watch over me over that period, as i go through a pretty hectic part of the semester. It has been raining quite a bit the past few days, esp today, its been raining since early in the morning. Because of the rain, the current temp is like 7 degree celsius, which is pretty cold. Over the past few days, i've been experimenting with new dishes like on monday we had pizza, self made pizza and then on tues we had fried bee hoon with chilli, chicken and prawn. The pizza was all right, the crust wasnt that fantastic, but the ingredients were all right. THe bee Hoon was pretty all right, i quite enjoyed it, haha i cant believe im praising and talking about my own cooking. Anyways, ill post pictures of the food we had last week, which was rice and dishes, and pizza this week!







This weekend ill be very busy doing my take home exam for contracts. I pray that God will watch over me and give me the wisdom to answer the questions well and be able to hand a good piece of work up on monday morning. This is my first take home exam and im praying that everything will be good =) Okays, back to work now, i've to revise for contracts now. ill update soon! xoxo

the Olympic fever and more...

The past week has been pretty exciting in terms of tv wise, cos of the exciting olympics on tv. The olympics has certainly made the usually boring tv program here pretty good. I love watching the swimming, synchronised diving, beach volleyball and now track and field. Good, good stuff! haha and i know the parents are also watching the olympics back home too.

Anyway, enough about the olympics, so far life has been pretty all right. But school is definitely getting busier esp next weekend onwards. Next fri, my take home exam for law will be released and my entire weekend next week will be pretty much burnt out. After that, there will be tons of assignments and mid semesters to deal with. Oh wells, i guess thats just part and parcel of uni life!! But somehow, the second semester is always slightly better in that you know after this semester its the very much anticipated three mths break. I'm definitely looking forward to the break. I really do need some retail therapy, esp in hk where i just totally love spending time with mummy and the aunties, walking arnd, enjoying good food, good shopping and meeting up with hk friends. And the pre-christmas atmosphere there is simply awesome, they really do put in alot of effort in decorating their shopping centres and all, and best of all the weather is always nice and cool!! ooo thinking abt it, makes me want to fly there now! haha. i must seriously lose weight, earn my money, so that i can use it to shop in hk!

Its abt a mth left till the bro and i return to singapore for the grand prix! I'm pretty excited abt going back even though its only for about ten days or so! Its better than nothing!! =) okays, thats all for me now! I must study study study! I seriously am geared up to do well this sem! Its my last sem in commerce and i wanna end it off with a bang!!! i'll update again soon! xoxo

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!!!!!

Its the 9th of August once again! In other words, its national day today! Happy National Day to all Singaporeans. The bro and i are attending some sort of party in the city later, its a combined celebration of the singapore society of Melbourne Uni, RMIT and Monash Uni. I've no idea how its going to turn out, but just hope that at least i can soak in some sort of national spirit and atmosphere tonight. And so we watched the opening ceremony of the beijing olympics last night! It was really really awesome, and im proud to call myself a chinese. The fireworks were spectacular and though we were not in the stadium in Beijing, you can just feel the very strong sense of national pride of the chinese people and the entire experience watching it is pretty uplifting! I did enjoy the show alot. Now, i just can't wait for my fave events to start like swimming, track and field and tennis.

Oh yes, today is also Laura, Andrea and Gary's graduation day! a big CONGRATULATIONS to them! The bro and i went to uni to take a few pics with them and i must say the atmosphere in uni today was so good! All the happy faces of the graduates, the proud faces of the parents and the whole place was just filled with a great sense of achievement, accomplishment and satisfaction! The feeling standing in the midst of them is just great. It makes me want to graduate too, though i know mine is still a far 2 years away. Its really a turning point in life for everyone once they leave uni. Out into the corporate world and all, wow! all i can say is, i would really feel like a total grown up then. But till then, i must still slog it out, and wait for that day to arrive, where i bid goodbye to melbourne and carry a whole full bag of memories and embrace a totally new phase in life.

im officially 20 now!!! and the olympics starts tomorrow!!

IM OFFICIALLY 20 NOW!!! haha. i dont know why i seem so happy about that when being 20 means im no longer a teenager and yet on the other hand im not an adult yet! Its an in between age! Anyway, i had a pretty good party this year! thanks to all my friends and of course my brother who made the entire night a memorable night! It was a fun-filled night with tons of laughter, good shabu shabu food and just a really good chill-out session. And so my 20th birthday went well, and i happily turned 20 on the 2nd of august! haha. The presents were interesting too! i had sake, wine, an oil burner with candles and all and lip balm. anyway, thats all it for my 20th birthday! I'm definitely going to have a big bash for my 21st!!

On a different note, the olympics is starting tomorrow! i'm seriously so super duperly excited and i dont know why! Maybe its cos i get good tv programmes for the next few weeks or maybe its cos the olympics is once every 4 years and its hosted in an asian country this year! whatever the reason is, my excitement can't be contained! Its the best atheletes competing out there and it will definitely be interesting to watch! 950 pm aussie time tomorrow, the olympics begins!!!

Second Semester of my 3rd year

Its back to melbourne once again. This is also the semester i'll be finishing my commerce degree. Well i had a really really good summer holiday this time. Firstly, i passed my driving =) Yes, finally!!! And the on the day i passed my driving, our family went on one of the best trips we've ever had! It was the fly and drive trip in hokkaido. I really enjoyed myself in hokkaido, we really got to experience loads of things we've never done, and its a really different experience during summer in hokkaido than in winter. And of course, the food in japan never fails me, it was as awesome as ever. Come to think of it, i really do miss hokkaido now.


Oh wells! Holiday aside, its back to the hectic schedule that comes along with school. But its also 2 mths till the bro and i return in sept for F1 in singapore! We are all pretty excited about that. The weather here has been rather cold, i guess it takes a while to adjust back to the winter back here. Its my birthday in 5 days time! That means the last 5 days of being a teenager! Gosh, i really do feel old. Okays and so ill end here , but ill update again soon! =)

SO MUCH TO DO, SO LITTLE TIME...

Sigh! im halfway through swot vac week and there is still TONS to do, and yet not enough time! i hate this race against time. I feel physically and mentally so tired already!! ahh...this semester seems like a mad rush! and the weather is cold, too cold in fact that i feel like just snuggling under my sheets but obviously i know i cant do that now! ahh i seriously need to hang in there and push even harder!!! DETERMINATION AND PERSEVERANCE!!!!ahh easier said than done! oh wells, what can i say besides i really cant wait for this madness to be over!!! In the meantime, I REALLY NEED TO STUDY.

Swot Vac Week

and so the marathon begins...what else can i say besides 'STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!!!'

I pray the Lord will watch over me over this period, and that i can trust him that he would always be there for me!!! i pray for determination and strength that when im weary and tired, he would perk me up and encourage me all the way! i shall commit to the Lord everything i do! =)

Last week of School--last day tomorrow!

Week 12 is finally here! That means two more weeks to exams and two more days till my law essay is due! ahh stresss!! i just totally dread this part of the semester! Its where intensive studying begins and i go into total hibernation mode! But that also means its three and a half more weeks to home!!!! =)

Well, overall this semester was pretty all right! Quite a mad rush this semester because we had our mid sem holiday very early on in the semester in week 3 and then its been pretty much madness from week 3 to week 12. And this semester we had three batches of visitors, first was Godma and Godpa, second was aaron and jane and third was wyman and rebecca! It was really really nice having all of them over, and spreading to us loads of family love from singapore! =) I totally enjoyed having them over and taking them around, living with them and learning more about each of them as well. Now, its just me and the bro at home, aand then on the 12th of june korkor is flying back! That's like on the 2nd day of my exams but then MUMMY is coming on the 8th!!! YAY!! and then we will both be flying back together! I'm glad ill have mummy to accompany me through my exams, and at least there is someone here with me! =)

I'm looking forward to the winter break! But in the meantime, its just alot of discipline and determination and its a race against time!!! JIAYOU JASLYN!!!! I'll see everyone soon!! =)

PSYCHED UP FOR THE EXAMS!!!

i'm suddenly feeling totally psyched up for the exams! three and a half more weeks to exams, TONS to cover but yet i suddenly feel this strong urge to study like never before and putting in tons of effort the next few weeks! Though im seriously feeling the stress from the exams, i know that i can do it!! HANG IN THERE JASLYN!! The weekend was spent trying to cover as many topics and catching up as much as i can for law! but there is still tons and tons to do and read! Sigh, and then there are the other three commerce subs that i've to cover! ah dear Lord, please grant me the strength and wisdom the next few weeks! Whenever the road seems impossible ahead i know that i can trust the lord in guiding me! 5 days to the law essay topic comes out and then its one serious week of doing that essay and study at the same time! ahhh this semester is pretty hectic! okay got to go sleep soon, i've got an early class tomorrow!! JIAYOU JASLYN!!!!

Term is ending...Exams are nearing

Week 10 of school has just ended and that means its two more weeks of school before the semester is over! That means its three and a half weeks to exams! AHHH! Stress!! I've TONS to study and not much time left! I pray that God will give me the strength to keep going, to work hard for the next month and persevere!!!

The weather here however isnt helping, its so good to sleep in and it gets dark at 5! sigh! thats the downside of studying in a country with four seasons! but then again, this weather is so much better than the dreadful humid weather back home! Today, the day was spent studying in the law library with my two other friends. We had a discussion for three hours of the main cases and principles, intensive stuff i must say. There are just so many cases to read for law, im not complaining though cos they are pretty interesting to read but its the application of these cases to the exams that im complaining about! sigh! tons of reading to catch up and there are three other subjects to do as well! anyway, I will hang in there and do my utmost best for the upcoming exam!

COLD COLD WEATHER

the weather in melbourne has taken a plunge over the past few days!! Yesterday was one of the coldest days ever, with temps being as low as 7 degree celsius. And its only autumn now! It has also been raining the past few days and i guess thats what contributes to the low temperatures. Out comes the winter jackets and layers and layers of clothings.

So the past few days have been great with the Godparents here in melbourne. WE went to arthurs seat, mt dandenong, crown, southbank, vic mart and all. Enjoyed every moment of it =) the bro and i are having $10 steak tonight and the godparents are meeting their friends for dinner!

a quick update!

so my GODPARENTS are coming in three days!!! yippeeee im so super duperly excited!! =) First time for Godpa and second time for Godma! Its always great to have the ones you love come visit you and spend time with you! Anyways, life has been pretty busy these past few days and all, with my investments mid sem that ended on thurs (which didnt go too well) and another corp fi exam coming up in three days! THe day i have my corp fi exam is the day tt my Godparents are coming! Its pretty good timing i guess, ending my mid sems the day they arrive.

Oh wells! i gotta go study for corporate finance now. I'm gonna study hard and make sure i can anticipate and handle all the stupidly tricky questions that the lecturers are always so fond of giving! ahhh! okay so its countdown till the godparents arrive and then it would be aaron and jane after that!

okays i'm listening to lam fung's fantastic cd now, yay! it definitely puts me in a better mood! so its back to studying!!! =)

Mid Sems are commingggggg!!!

This is such a stressful period, ive got an investments mid semester on thursday and another corporate finance mid sem the following tuesday!! i need to study study study!!! oh wells! this time of the semester is always the crazy period, either you have essays or exams!

Other than that, the bro, Tim and i went to watch AFL last saturday! it was pretty good, the MCG is such a HUGE stadium! there were like 60,000 over people watching. It was really massive! it was a good experience and i quite enjoyed myself. Last sunday night was spent watching formula 1 on tv! the bro was not happy with the results! haha cos hamilton had a really poor start and didnt come in top ten. The week that passed was a pretty ordinary week, nothing way too exciting. I cooked quite a fair bit this week. hmms actually for three days only but it was the most since i came back! We're going to the supermart once the bro gets up and all then we'll probably buy sushi back for lunch! and after that its just work work and more work!!!
